It just wouldn't be Christmas without a poinsettia sprinkling a little festive joy in our homes. These stunning houseplants, with dark green leaves and bright red bracts have become a firm festive favourite.
Here are some top tips on how to care for your poinsettia:
- Ensure it is well protected on the journey home. Don't leave it in the car for long if it is very cold outside.
- Once home, keep it in a bright, draught-free spot. Keep away from open doors, windows and fireplaces.
- Be careful not to over water. So water sparingly, usually when the surface of the compost has started to dry out. Try to use tepid water.
- If your poinsettia is looking a little worse for wear, remove any dead leaves & monitor the watering. Grey mould can be a problem which can result from over watering.
So don't be put off, its easy when you know how!
